Summary
This Basic Level Instruction Course Focuses on Imparting Appropriate Skills in Clinical Low Vision. It Begins by Defining Low Vision, Its Etiology and Epidemiology and the Cardinal Treatment Principles, Followed by Exploring Various Types of Optical & Non-optical Lva Available in the Indian Market to Enhance Visual Performance, Their Optics, Their Advantages and Disadvantages and How to Use the Appropriate Lva in Various Situations. the Next Section Deals with Light, Glare and Contrast Management. Then Special Iols, Retinal Prosthesis, and Strides Made in Optogenetics Are Highlighted. Finally, the Course Is Wound up by Discussing How to Assess a Low Vision Patient in the Clinic, the Assessment Tools Required and How to Source and Dispense Low Vision Aids. at the Conclusion of the Course, Participants Will Become Proficient in Identifying, Assessing and Treating Low Vision Cases in Their Day-to-day Practice, Thus, Integrating Low Vision Care Into Their Clinical Practice.
Resume
The instructor started low vision practice in 1989 when there were only a handful of practitioners in the country. He has conducted workshops and CME sessions on the subject at NIVH, Dehradun, NAB, Mumbai, WOC and elsewhere. He chaired the first Low Vision session in AIOS in 1990 and then at the ICEVI Congress in 1995. He has published Low Vision research in journals like BJVI, JVIB etc. and has presented papers in several conferences including two International Low Vision Congresses in 1991 and 2005. He is a member of the International Society for Low Vision Research & Rehabilitation.
