The Third Hand : Modified Irrigation Tip for Bimanual IA
Abstract Body:
In FLACS, cortical fibres are cut 200–300 µm below the CCC, leaving no free cortical fibrils for aspiration. When postoperative miosis occurs beyond the CCC, bimanual I/A becomes challenging as the irrigating probe cannot adequately retract the iris for cortical visualisation. We introduce a modified irrigating handle the “Third Hand” featuring a Y-shaped extension that atraumatically lifts and holds the iris away during I/A. This provides continuous exposure of the cortical edge, enabling safe and effective 360° aspiration in all quadrants.
