Title:
Intraocular Treasure Hunt
Abstract Body:
Intraocular foreign body (IOFB) at the ciliary sulcus constitutes a significant diagnostic and management challenge due to its anatomic location and no direct visualisation. It can cause grave complications including retinal toxicity and secondary glaucoma, if not removed timely. Ocular ultrasound and CT scan may fail to precisely locate IOFB at this region. In absence of UBM, gonioscopy may be a simple and economical method to identify IOFB at this area. Herein, we have illustrated a case of IOFB at ciliary sulcus area, which was not detected by initial imaging (orbital X-ray). However, on basis of strong clinical suspicions, an IOFB was noted by gonioscopy at the ciliary sulcus. The IOFB was then removed through limbal route under direct visualisation and scleral indentation in an innovative way. This video highlights the importance of strong clinical suspicion, meticulous ocular examination and depicts a simple yet innovative surgical method to manage IOFB at the ciliary sulcus.
