Summary
The Global Eye Genetics Consortium (GEGC) session at AIOC 2026 will present a comprehensive overview of advances in ocular genetics through a global lens. Experts from multiple countries will discuss recent developments in gene discovery, genotype–phenotype correlations, and the clinical application of next-generation sequencing in inherited eye diseases. The session will emphasize ethnic and population-specific genetic variability and its implications for diagnosis, variant interpretation, and patient management. Through focused talks and illustrative case discussions, the session aims to highlight current nuances in genetic testing and foster international collaboration between clinicians and researchers to advance care for patients with inherited ocular disorders.
