Title
Genetics in Ophthalmology: Patient Evaluations and Research for Possible Genetic Treatments
Summary
With Knowledge of the Basics of Genetics, You Will Better Understand Human Health and Disease. Genomic Technologies Continue to Expand and Are Implemented More Into Clinical Care. the Essentials of Genetics Are Sequencing and Gene Expression. Ophthalmologists Should Understand Genetic Involvement in the Pathogenesis of Glaucoma, Amd, Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinitis Pigmentosa and Corneal Dystrophies. Gene Testing and Genetic Counseling Are Important Components of Patient Care. the Mechanism of Genetic Alterations by the Sars-cov-2 (Covid) Genome Will Be Used to Demonstrate How a Virus Injects Its Rna Into Human Cells and How It May Be Utilized to Treat Ophthalmic Genetic Disorders. Crispr/cas9 Dna Replacement Technology Is Being Tested in Mice for Preventing Inherited Retinitis Pigmentosa. Upon Completion of the Course, the Attendees Will Have Knowledge Related to Current and Future Trends for Treatments with Adeno-associated Viruses, Epigenetics and Crispr Gene Technology.
Resume
Co-author of the genetic analysis of a family with Autosomal Dominant Cornea Plana, published in the journal Ophthalmic Genetics. He has chaired the annual AIOS course in ophthalmic genetics and at the 2014 WOC meeting in Tokyo. He has also lectured on the subject at Sankara Nethralaya and Aravind Eye Hospitals, Chulalongkorn University Medical Center in Bangkok and the Fyodorov Eye Institute in Moscow.
