Title
Pterygium Management: Revolution in Evolution
Summary
Currently, Conjunctival Autograft (Cag) Following Pterygium Excision Is Considered to Be ‘Gold Standard’ with a Recurrence Rate Varying Between 2 to 7.4%. the Very Purpose of Pterygium Surgery Gets Defeated by Its Recurrence and We Are Aiming for a ‘Zero’ Recurrence. to Achieve Zero Recurrence, Various Techniques Are Evolving in Recent Years Including P.e.r.f.e.c.t Technique, Pterygium Excision with Mini-simple Limbal Epithelial Transplantation (Mini-slet) and Pterygium Extended Removal with Mini-slet (Per with Mini-slet) for Both Primary and Recurrent Pterygium. This Video Assisted Instruction Course Will Waive the Ophthalmologist Through the Current and the Evolving Techniques Highlighting Their Concepts, Surgical Techniques, Recurrence Rate and the Complications.
Resume
The chief instructor 's first study on pterygium comparing three fixation techniques of CAG got published in a PubMed cited indexed international journal with more than 35 citations. His second study was an RCT comparing mini-SLET with CAG following pterygium excision got published in a PubMed cited indexed international journal with a high impact factor. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first RCT on the evolving subject. Currently, the chief instructor is working on Pterygium Extended Removal with mini-SLET especially in glaucoma patients and is going to be a path breaking study.
