Title
Amniotic Membrane - the New Biological in Ophthalmology .
Summary
The Amniotic Membrane (Am) Has Gained Considerable Attention for Its Therapeutic Potential Due to Its Unique Properties. This Presentation Delves Into the Applications, Benefits, and Prospects of Amniotic Membrane Grafts (Amg) in Ophthalmology. the Course Covers the Fundamental Principles of Amniotic Membrane Grafting, Followed by a Comprehensive Overview Of amg use in Both Anterior and Posterior Segment Ocular Pathologies. We Will Explore the Application Of amg as an Inlay or Overlay in Managing Chemical Injuries, Corneal Melts, and Persistent Epithelial Defects. Additionally, the Role Of amg in Ocular Surface Reconstruction for Cases of Ocular Surface Squamous Neoplasia (Ossn) and Recurrent Pterygiums Will Be Discussed. We Will Highlight the Techniques for Harvesting amg and Its Innovative Use in Treating Recurrent Macular Holes and Optic Disc Pits. We Aim to Provide a Detailed Understanding of the Current and Emerging Uses of Amniotic Membrane Grafts in Ophthalmology.
Resume
Author was one of first few ophthalmic surgeons to start using amniotic membrane in ocular surface reconstruction since 1997. Has extensive experience in using AM for chronic chemical burns with limbal transplants, acute chemical and thermal burns. Has used AM in the management of OSSN, pterygium, entropion.
