IOL Scaffold technique for phacoemulsification in a morgagnian cataract
Abstract Body:
Phacoemulsification in a morgagnian cataract presents with its own sets of challenges . Some of them are shrunken leathery cataract in an empty bag, compromised / weak zonules, tricky rhexis, absent epinculear cushion ( increased risk of PCR) and limited visibility (Milky fluid).Surgical options available are Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery and phacoemulsification with / without IOL scaffold. Phacoemulsification with / without IOL scaffold procedure is quite safe and effective if done prudently. The attached video demonstrates the safety of this technique and how it can be performed in the hands of an experienced surgeon.
