Haptic Heartbreak – IOL exchange following haptic fracture in posterior polar cataract
Abstract Body:
Posterior polar cataracts (PPC) are one of the nightmares for any anterior segment surgeon, where complications can occur at any stage. The risk of complication is manifold higher as compared to routine cataract surgery, which, however, can be reduced with appropriate modifications and precautions. In this video, we depict a case of a dense PPC that was meticulously managed but got complicated during IOL implantation as the trailing haptic was found to be broken, and we discuss how it was managed further.
