Crack open the hard case- Phacoemulsification in hypermature calcified capsule cataract
Abstract Body:
Phacoemulsification in hypermature hard cataract is complicated especially in calcified capsule where rhexis is difficult to perform because of calcified spot and folded capsule. In this video we explain the process of rhexis where the calcified area is spared and extending rhexis in mid periphery area and when it extends little periphery early identification and little's maneuver is performed and rhexis is completed safely and then Phacoemulsification is continued by chopping with a blunt chopper . Since rhexis is complete and safe phacoemulsification went uneventful and in the bag intraocular lens was implanted.
