OVD through ACM "Surgeon's 3rd hand!"
Abstract Body:
OVD through ACM - _" _the 3rd hand of phaco surgeon!"_ Ocular viscoelastic device (OVD) through Anterior chamber maintainer (ACM) can help like the 3rd hand of a phaco surgeon. Applications: 1. Endothelial protection during phaco. Each cell of the endothelium is precious for every phaco surgeon, especially in patients with poor endothelium. Here is a simple technique for endothelial protection during phaco. An Anterior Chamber Maintainer ( ACM) is connected to a container with dispersive Ocular Viscoelastic Device( OVD) and is primed with the OVD. It is kept connected to the peripheral Anterior Chamber. An Assistant can safely push OVD whenever required, like a surgeon's 3rd hand. 2. Handling other intraoperative complications during phaco: This is of immense help in situations like rhexis run out, surge & sudden posterior capsular rent. 3: Phaco training This is also very useful during phaco training and for beginner surgeons.
