Fractured Chopper, Unbroken Outcome
Abstract Body:
We report a case of phacoemulsification surgery taking an unexpected turn due to the sudden breakage of a blunt chopper intraoperatively. The broken shaft was identified and managed. Instrument breakage during surgery is rare and rarely reported, but it can be potentially dangerous. Our aim is to emphasize the importance of inspecting instruments before and after surgery, and to remain vigilant for such unexpected occurrences during the procedure.
