Summary
Orthoptek is a novel instrument used and is in the treatment of Amblyopia and related disorders like strabismus, nerve palsies, in both adults and children with exceedingly good results and the improvement is sustained over a period of time, even after the session of the the treatment. The important thing is that the improvement is noticed in both adults and children after a brief period of treatment of 2 weeks only. This is noninvasive treatment using light spot and also improves hand eye coordination, even in adults. Stereopsis improved much faster than the monocular vision, in most patients. The instrument is depends on the top down impulses coming from frontal eye field area and parietal cortex, stimulating the area 4 C beta in occipital cortex, where the foveal impulses are suppressed in Amblyopia and the fast forwarding of the retinal impulses to the inferotemporal cortex for further analysis and there by overcoming suppression and improvement of vision in Amblyopia

The chief instructor was a resident in ophthalmology in RP Centre AIIMS, New Delhi and was trained in Strabismus and neuro ophthalmology in St george's teaching hospital, and Moorfield's eye Hospital London and is also the inventor of the novel instrument for the treatment of Amblyopia and related disorders. He has extensive experience in Strabismus and has delivered lecturers in national and international conferences and has performed live strabismus surgery under topical anaesthesia in many parts of India . He has been the president andsecretary of many ophthalmic societies in India
