Who is afraid of medico legal cases?
Summary
Legal literacy among ophthalmologist is rather poor in India. Common ophthalmologist get nightmares on receipt of a legal notice. Every practising ophthalmologist should know their basic rights and be ready to successfully defend a medico legal case. This basic course will highlight what is not taught in medical school. This includes liabilities of a medical practitioner, how to proceed when you get a legal notice, what professional indemnity is adequate, all about consents and some classic stare decisis or judge made laws. Also major Supreme Court decisions with implications to our practice will be revisited. At the end of the course the attendees will be having the basic knowledge and confidence to defend their practice in court of law

Chief instructor is a practising VR surgeon with 24 years of experience. He is actively involved in preparing legal reply in medico legal cases for past 10 years in connection with legal firms. He has post graduate diploma in medical law and ethics PGDMLE from national university of advanced legal studies.
