Title
A practical guide to Manage Corneal perforations: A case-based and video-assisted course!
Summary
Corneal perforations are ophthalmological emergencies those can have devastating outcomes. Corneal perforations may occur following infective, neuroptrophic and autoimmune disorders. Corneal perforations may also occur following trauma and chemical injuries. Referrals to the tertiary care centres indicate that corneal perforations are either missed or treated inappropriately. Ophthalmologists should have high index of suspicion and perform Seidel’s test to detect corneal perforations early. Choice of treatment option is determined by size, location and underlying aetiology of perforation. Small and medium sized corneal perforations are amenable to cyanoacrylate, fibrin glue and AMG. However, patch grafts, conjunctivalpedical grafts and therapeutic grafts are needed for large perforations. Case based presentations augmented with videos of techniques will give attendees a real time experience of managing corneal perforations and enable selecting case based treatment option juduicously
