Title
PCR Management: New approaches takes the stress away
Summary
With new innovations in the management of Posterior Capsular Rents (PCR) during Phaco, managing the vitreous, residual nucleus, cortex, posterior capsule, and implanting a three piece or a pre-planned single piece Toric IOL through a micro-incision, is now possible. It is also possible to see a crystal-clear cornea on the first post-op day with almost no instance of day-one rise of IOP. We bring you a video-based learning to help you understand these newer concepts from the masters.
Resume
The author is a cataract and refractive surgeon with 35 years standing. He has developed numerous techniques and instruments to make the Phaco procedure simpler and reproducible for Phaco surgeons. He promoted the use of a vitrector for cortex removal along with any attached vitreous strands in a PCR, and the same was show cased at ESCRS 2017 at Lisbon in Video symposium on challenging cases. He is also the innovator of the technique ‘Contact Lens Scaffold for management of PCR with residual nucleus’ which was shown in ESCRS 2020 in video symposium on challenging cases.
