Title
RETROPUPILLARY IRIS CLAW LENSES FOR COMPREHENSIVE OPHTHALMOLOGIST
Summary
Cataract surgery is portrayed as the easiest and the fastest surgery. But it is not always true. A trainee, or even an experienced surgeon in complicated cataract surgery can end up doing posterior capsular rent. Management of PCR requires expertise in anterior vitrectomy, as well as meticulous planning of placement as well as choice of IOL. The choice of IOL lies between anterior chamber IOL, sulcus fixated IOL and Iris Claw IOLs. The ACIOLs are associated with complications like uveitis, glaucoma and corneal decompensation. The Sulcus Fixated IOLs are till date a domain of posterior segment surgeons. So, the choice left to anterior segment surgeon is Iris Claw Lenses . The complications associated with it are very few e.g. ovalisation of pupil, mild uveitis etc. With the ease of availability of these lenses, they should be the first choice in situation of deficient capsule.
