Title
Ocular Oncology- The Masquerades
Summary
Often in our practice we witness late diagnosis and/or misdiagnosis of ocular/ adnexal/ periocular neoplasias, including lethal malignancies. Primarily these treacherous tumors may mimic other inflammatory and benign conditions, misleading a clinician. And these often happen in a general outpatient clinics that can lead to devastating outcome with respect to life, eye and vision salvage. However, from an ocular oncologist's perspective we often consider 'specific' clinical and diagnostic clues in identifying these masquerades. In this instruction course we will have eminent ocular oncology specialists highlighting the 'identification' and 'differentiation' of common and not so common ocular lesions for early diagnosis, and avoid misdiagnosis. The aim of this course is to create awareness among the general ophthalmologists and other specialists regarding masquerading ocular lesions that cane be life threatening. 'Early' is the key in ocular malignancies, be it diagnosis or management.
