The Trauma Series - Management of Eyelid, Orbit and Lacrimal injuries
Summary
Injuries of ocular adnexa take place due to RTAs, industrial accidents and intentional assault. These injuries can involve the eyelids, lacrimal system, orbital walls, either in isolation or in conjunction with midfacial injuries. Primary repair and management of injuries is the preferable option, however, we will also be illustrating management of secondary deformities . We will discuss traumatic eyelid injuries along with canalicular tears with respect to lid margin, canthus and levator repair. Repairing orbital fractures along with the treatment of secondary deformities such as misaligned eyelids, brows, traumatic ectropion and lagophthalmos. A series of video-based lectures will highlight handling of complex cases and how to prepare patients for step-wise management. Advances in the area of orbital surgeries, including patient-specific implants (PSI) will be covered. This will give the attendees the confidence to diagnose with and incorporate newer modalities in their practice.

The chief instructor is Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology at two teaching hospitals at New Delhi. He has conducted Instruction courses on Oculoplastics over the globe, has over 60 publications and over 1000 presentations at International and National level. He has chaired sessions, been Guest Speaker performed live surgery all over the world including the World Congress, APAO, AAO, APSOPRS and several other International meetings. He is a recipient of Col. Rangachari Award for the best paper from the All India Ophthalmological Society and numerous International and National Orations.
